This is the first of our seasonal newsletters. It has been a long time in the making and I hope you enjoy it. It’s already late-June and the temperature is rising. It’s summer in Phoenix and the monsoon is on the way. We are all doing whatever we can to stay cool. It might mean jumping in the pool, spending the afternoon at a movie theater or even cooking. Yes, I said cooking. We’ve been working on some great ways to feed your family without heating up the kitchen. At our ‘Creative Grilling’ class on Wednesday 7/19 and Saturday 7/22, we will be making comfort food on the grill. Just because it’s hot outside doesn’t mean that we can’t have a taste for comfort food. And if you’ve never baked a cake on the grill, you just have to sign up for this class. We won’t be adding a lot of frosting on a cake….you can get that from your local bakery. We’ll just be baking a cake outside with lots of flavor and loads of fun. Our ‘Grilling Made Easy’ class on Wed 8/9 and Sat 8/12 will teach the griller in your family how to properly grill foods from burgers to chicken to desserts. Our Saturday class will be held earlier in the day -- from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. so that you don’t have to spend the hot part of the day in the heat. And since families seem to grill together, we’re having a special on this class. Pay for one person and bring another person for free. So sign up early while there’s room. And fill your freezer with your favorite grilling items, because after this class, you’ll definitely be on your way to being a grilling master. We still have our ‘healthy focus’ classes each month with the July class (7/26 and 7/29) focusing on Stir-Frys. Don’t forget our salad classes. We have a Hearty Dinner Salads II class on 7/12 and 7/15 and also a Whole Grains Salad class on 7/5 and 7/8. Check out our website at www.simplyimpressive.com for our other classes. There’s something for everyone. Simply Impressive Cooking School – In Print – a few weeks ago the Arizona Republic asked me to develop some recipes for their old-fashioned dessert article. I gave them three recipes, including my new favorite dessert – Strawberry/Rhubarb crumble. It was in the paper on June 28. If you haven’t seen the article, check it out at Sweet Land of Liberty. The recipe great, if I do say so myself, and I’ve included a copy of it later on in this newsletter. If you want your picture to be in the paper, enroll in our Creative Grilling class. The East Valley Tribune asked to come and take pictures of our July 19 class. Simply Impressive Cooking School – On TV – be sure to watch Fox 10 on the 4th of July. At 8:45 a.m. they will be here watching me make a cake and mac&cheese on the grill. Our website – watch for our new website at www.simplyimpressive.com . That, too, has been a long time in the making. We should have it available in the next few weeks. Check out our complete class calendar. It is currently available through September, but I am developing my Fall and Winter calendar and am taking requests for potential classes. Please e-mail me at judy@simplyimpressive.com or call me at 480-654-1981 to make your request. I cannot guarantee that every request will make it on to the calendar, but I will definitely try. I’ve already had requests for pizza, wraps, casseroles, lamb, cookies and candies. Special Savings Offers – until August 31, 2006, we will be offering a few specials. Besides the buy one get one free for our Grilling Basics Class, we are offering you $10 off a class if you refer a new student to Simply Impressive. They must attend a class before the end of August. We are also holding a drawing. For each class you attend this summer (again through 8/31/2006) we will put your name in a drawing. The winner will receive a free class with Simply Impressive. Please feel free to pass this newsletter on to others. If you send me their e-mail information, I will include them on future mailing lists. If you do not wish to receive any future newsletters, please respond to this e-mail and put UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line. I will remove your name from all future mailings.
